Hello peoples. Continuing my trend of me wanting to be a reviewer, in this random journal (since I didn't want to make this a submission) we're going to be talking about modern SpongeBob Squarepants, something that's been on my mind as of late. Now, the show was a huge part of my childhood, and even now I can laugh at some of their old humor. But the show has fallen from grace, and it's become...unwatchable. Most of it anyways, there is still some good, but it's not the show I grew up with. Here I'm gonna list off ten of my favorites episodes of modern SpongeBob and the ten episodes that disgust me to my very core.

TOP TEN BEST EPISODES OF MODERN SPONGEBOB
 :bulletgreen:10.Plankton's Pet:bulletgreen:
The biggest issue with modern SpongeBob is that everyone is cruel, and the characters are frequently put into cruel situations. But this episode is heartwarming, and Plankton's interactions with his cute amoeba are worthy of a smile.

 :bulletgreen:9. Roller Cowards :bulletgreen:
Another issue plaguing the show is that SpongeBob has gotten way too childish, excessive crying, playing with baby toys, all that stuff. You want to make the characters childish? Then put them in a situation where it's natural, like facing the fear of getting on a huge rollercoaster. Just like real life, and with me, riding a coaster is the only way to get over your fear. Now I love them. Roller Cowards does just that.

 :bulletgreen:8. The Krusty Plate :bulletgreen:
This is a weird short about SpongeBob trying to clean a plate. And it gets more and more ridiculous to the point where SpongeBob causes spontaneous molecular distortion in his attempts to get the plate clean. It's funny, what else can I say?

 :bulletgreen:7. Spy Buddies :bulletgreen:
A homage to older spy movies, SpongeBob managed to correctly parody the genre and stay humorous. The ending is confusing, but I don't really care.

 :bulletgreen:6. Suction Cup Symphony :bulletgreen:
Another massive issue with modern SpongeBob is Squidward gets tortured...a lot, through no fault of his own. Here however while Squidward is tormented, the episode ends on a high note with Squidward winning at the end with the success of his symphony, leaving us with a good feeling. And the music is both wonderful and hilarious.

:bulletgreen:5. Perfect Chemistry :bulletgreen:
This is the kind of episode where the writers center around one joke, and actually make it funny. The kind of jokes? Fart jokes! But seriously this is a really funny episode that made me laugh, and the team up of Plankton and Sandy is actually really cool.

:bulletgreen:4. Planet of the Jellyfish:bulletgreen:
A B-movie reference to Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Planet of the Jellyfish never loses focus for a second. It delivers the right amount of humor, suspense and action and the plot never stalls, which makes it a great episode. Also, one Krabby Patty, hold the mayonnaise.

:bulletgreen:3. SIng a Song of Patrick:bulletgreen:
Patrick has become a massive jerk in later seasons, and the bottom ten will get more into that. Here Patrick creates a song that is so horrible it wreaks havoc across the town. The jokes are spot on, the song is hilarious and for once the characters are in more pain than the audience. A classic.

:bulletgreen:2. The Battle of Bikini Bottom:bulletgreen:
I really love these episodes where SpongeBob and Patrick go to war, like The Snowball Effect. Here they fight over being dirty or being clean, and they  do a lot of visual gags that really work, as well as tell some really good jokes with a lot of back-and-forth humor.

:bulletgreen:1. Sandcastles in the Sand:bulletgreen:
Following the previous episode on this list, SpongeBob and Patrick are at war again, this time over sandcastles! But this episode extends itself further by creating amazing things out of sand, awesome fight sequences and some of the best humor in the modern seasons. A true gem of an episode.

Keep in mind, there are many bad episodes of the show, but the following ones are insufferably bad. While I can stomach episodes like Fungus Among Us, Gone and even To Love a Patty, these ten are the ones I cannot stand to watch, and actively change the channel when they're on.

TOP 10 MOST DISGUSTING EPISODES OF MODERN SPONGEBOB

:bulletred:10. SpongeBob, You're Fired:bulletred:
This episode is 50 shades of bad. It's full of boring filler, reused plot lines, and no one has any working brains, especially Mr. Krabs, who fires SpongeBob to save a nickel. The episode then rips off Le Big Switch and then everything goes back to normal. It's boring, it's stupid, it's disgusting.

:bulletred:9. Cephalopod Lodge:bulletred:
An infamous example of a Squidward torture porn, SpongeBob and Patrick get Squidward kicked out of his secret club, and not only to they cause the problem, they make it worse. Squidward gets nothing for his torment, unlike Suction Cup Symphony and while it could've ended on a high note, it blew it in the final minutes and ruined everything.

:bulletred:8. Someone's In the Kitchen With Sandy:bulletred:
An example of the townsfolk of Bikini Bottom being totally unlikable and insensitive jerks, everyone laughs and mocks Sandy because Plankton stole her pelt, then arrest her at the end. Oh yeah and this is the third time Plankton's dressed up as someone to steal the formula.

:bulletred:7. Stuck in the Wringer:bulletred:
An infamous episode, where Patrick glues Spongebob into his wringer, gets mad at him for being mad about ruining his life, and of course the townsfolk are hypocritical assholes. This is just a terrible, terrible episode, and it ends on one of the most insulting lines ever.
"I guess crying does solve your problems after all"

:bulletred:6. Smooth Jazz in Bikini Bottom:bulletred:
Squidward is constantly tormented in this episode. And what did he do to deserve it? He wanted to see a concert. That's it. Once again Patrick ruins everything, and gets no payback for it, while Squidward is tormented endlessly.

:bulletred:5. Boating Buddies:bulletred:
This is an extremely uncomfortable episode where Squidward is forced to go to boating school with SpongeBob, who wants to be his ahem "boating buddy." SpongeBob is disturbingly creepy, and his attraction to Squidward is...uncanny at best, stalkerish at worst.

:bulletred:4. Pet Sitter Pat:bulletred:
Patrick Star has fallen from grace. His stupidity was charming and funny. But not anymore. Not when he tries to kill Gary in this episode, by chasing him with a flamethrower, eating all his food and trying to "dry" him with salt. Oh yeah, and this episode has a terrible, insulting ending. What else is new?

:bulletred:3. A Pal For Gary:bulletred:
Considered the "sister" episode to Pet Sitter Pat, Gary is again tormented, by a creature SpongeBob brings home which turns out to be a monster. The most insulting part? SpongeBob constantly blames Gary even when the monster is clearly to blame. It's this insufferable stupidity that really hammers this home as a disgusting episode.

:bulletred:2. Yours Mine and Mine:bulletred:
Patrick is an asshole. No better episode to showcase this is this one, where he is so unlikeable I couldn't finish watching it. Patrick is a hypocritical selfish douche, he uses SpongeBob's money to buy himself a meal, which he doesn't share, then again to buy a toy, then hogs it all to himself, doesn't let SpongeBob have it, eats it, then gets a new one by using SpongeBob's money AGAIN. Oh yeah, and by far one of the most infuriating endings of all time. Just a fucking despicable episode.

:bulletred:1. One Coarse Meal:bulletred:
You all knew it was coming. The episode where Krabs drives Plankton to attempted suicide, gets no comeuppance, and Plankton still loses in the end. This is a disgusting episode, it angers me to my very core how terrible this plot is, and how anyone could think this was funny. It's SpongeBob's worst episode, and maybe the worst episode of any show of all time.

SpongeBob is an interesting show. While it's definitely not the show it was, it's not as bad as Family Guy, which I can't watch anymore.
Well I'm sure I wasted ten minutes of your life, but for those who read thank you. Anyways I hope you enjoyed and I'll see you again on the next Random Journal!
